Specialized Processes : TTH® (Cadmium Replacement)

By special arrangement with Icore International, CSL is now offering TTH® cadmium replacement coating for non-military, non-aerospace applications. In use since 1997, TTH® provides all of the characteristics needed to effectively replace Ni-Cd plating. Extensively tested in high-reliability electrical interconnect environments, TTH® is the only coating we know of that meets all the performance criteria of Ni-Cd coatings in all parameters.

TTH® offers a wide range of benefits:

• superior salt-spray life: 1500+ hours per ASTM B-117 procedure
• 200 hours sulfur fog test
• vibration, shock absorption, and adhesion standards for mechanical performance
• electrical conductivity: before and after salt spray testing
• high voltage dissipation
• anti-galling properties
• low-friction coating, surface is self-lubricating and self-replenishing

TTH® can be applied on aluminum, steel, and copper substrates. Non-metals such as PEEK can also be coated with TTH®. The coating is especially useful when high lubricity is required along with the superior corrosion protection. In this regard, TTH® is far superior to industry-standard Ni-Cd plating.
